Rick Santorum’s video game secret

Rick Santorum’s video game secret

While Mitt Romney might be giving Rick Santorum a bruising fight in the race for the Republican party's bid for the White House, there's one platform where Santorum is sure he tops his opponent: gaming.
The former Pennsylvania senator, it seems, has a passion for the iPhone game Temple Run, a title that has players endlessly fleeing a band of screaming, angry simians after defiling their temple.

Of course, in the polarizing world of video games, one never wants to offend fans of other games. That's why Santorum was quick to point out his former love for another popular title when asked about his dedication to Temple Run.
"I'm addicted to it," Santorum told Flip the Media. "It used to be Angry Birds, but now it's Temple Run."

News of the contender's gaming habits came, as these sorts of revelations often do, from his children. His daughter, in fact, boasted that her father had scored more than 1 million points in the game.
Santorum notes that it was his kids who loaded the game onto on his iPad, then warned him not to play it because it was addictive.
Even though the Supreme Court ruled that video games are protected by the First Amendment -- which essentially took them off the hot plate during this election year -- they've still become an issue in the 2012 presidential race. President Obama, you might recall, was fairly vocal in decrying them when he first took office, but has softened that stance as the election neared.
