james cameron sued again

james cameron sued again

james cameron sued again - James Cameron sued again, An aspiring writer has filed a lawsuit against film director James Cameron, 57, claiming that the film "Avatar" (will there be a sequel?) is a rip-off of a novel he wrote in the late '80s (what is it titled?). This is one of several similar suits against Cameron (how much did one man sue for?), who has stated that he came up with the idea for the movie in the early '90s but had to wait for technology to catch up to film it.

James Cameron is sued AGAIN over ‘Avatar’ by another aspiring screenwriter, says report, The California court system is becoming a Pandora’s box full of lawsuits against James Cameron over “Avatar.”

The latest to jump on the bandwagon is Elijah Schkeiban, according to the Hollywood Reporter, who claims in court papers filed Monday that the highest-grossing movie in history is a rip-off of his “Bats & Butterflies,” a sci-fi novel and WGA-registered script that he wrote in the late ’80s.

In “Bats & Butterflies,” an injured protagonist heads to the forest of a far-flung planet where he bonds with indigenous humanoids and joins the battle between the two species of the title, according to the trade publication.

Schkeiban joins a line of other aspiring screenwriters suing Cameron to claim “Avatar” was all their idea.

In December, Bryant Moore filed a suit seeking $1.5 billion in actual damages and another $1 billion in punitive damages in his lawsuit against Cameron’s production company and 20th Century Fox, the studio behind “Avatar.”

Moore contends that he first came up with ideas that surfaced in “Avatar” in a pair of his own screenplays, “Aquatica” and “Descendants: The Pollination,” including “bioluminescent flora/plant life, unbreathable atmospheres, matriarch support of hero vs. heroine, spiritual connections to environment and reincarnation, appearance of mist in scene, sunlight to moonlight, crackling from gargantuan foliage, blue skin/green skin and battle scene on limbs/branches,” TMZ reported at the time of the filing.

That suit came just weeks after screenwriter Eric Ryder sued Cameron in Los Angeles County, claiming it actually was his screenplay, entitled “KRZ 2068” that formed the basis for “Avatar” — after pitching it unsuccessfully to Cameron’s production company in 1999.

Cameron has said previously that he came up with the idea for the environmental parable behind “Avatar” in the early ’90s, but had to wait for special-effects technology to catch up to be able to film it.

“I certainly feel a personal sense of responsibility because I made a movie on these issues,” Cameron told the Daily News in 2010. “Why? Because they were personally important to me. It’s not like the studio said, ‘Jim we want you to make a movie about the environment.’ No. ... They said, ‘We really like the big epic science fiction story, but is there any way we can get this tree-hugging crap out of it?’ ”

Daniel Radcliffe Allen Ginsberg

Daniel Radcliffe Allen Ginsberg

Daniel Radcliffe Allen Ginsberg - Daniel Radcliffe to play Allen Ginsberg, "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe, 22, will portray poet Allen Ginsberg n the upcoming film "Kill Your Darlings". The movie is described as a thriller that will capture how a murder in 1944 draws the great poets of the beat generation together. It's expected in theaters next year.

Dan Radcliffe might be working on a script no one will want to see, but his next is a movie we're definitely interested in.
Twitch reports that Radcliffe is allegedly up for the part of Beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the upcoming film "Kill Your Darlings." The role originally belonged to Jesse Eisenberg when the movie was first announced, but sources close to Twitch say Radcliffe is apparently taking his place. The former "Harry Potter" star will reportedly get started on the production after he finishes his run on Broadway in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying."

The film, created by writer-director John Krokidas, is a thriller based on actual events that occurred between famous authors Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and Lucien Carr.
Carr is credited for bringing together Ginsberg, Kerouac and William S Burroughs in friendship, but he also famously served time in 1944 for murdering his lover David Kammerer. It's unclear what the exact plot of the movie is, but that last little factoid definitely ties in to the film's plot.

Chris Evans was originally supposed to be playing Kerouac and Ben Whishaw was attached to play Carr back when the flick was first announced, but it's unclear whether they're still attached to it or whether Krokidas will assemble a new cast. It will be interesting to see what spin Radcliffe gives on the poet, especially in lieu of James Franco just playing him in the well-received movie "Howl." Maybe he will be able to relate to Ginsberg over the fact he's starting to write some pretty good poetry.

Reese Witherspoon has joined the cast of 'Devil's Knot'.
The Oscar-winning actress has signed up to appear in the crime drama, which is to be directed by Atom Egoyan and is based on reporter Mara Levitt's 2003 book, 'Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three', according to Variety.
In the book, Levitt followed the prolonged murder trial of Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr., who served 17 years in prison before being released this past August. They were accused of killing three eight-year-old cub scouts found in a wooded area of Arkansas called Robin Hood Hills.
Witherspoon will play Pam Hobbs, the mother of one of the victims.
Initially Hobbs was convinced Echols, Baldwin and Misskelley had killed her son but as the case dragged on, she began to believe the trio were innocent. In November 2007, Hobbs claimed that new evidence had eventually changed her mind.
The production of the movie is expected to begin next summer and as well as Egoyan and Witherspoon on board, Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman will serve as the screenwriters.

No Del Toro in 'Star Trek' sequel?

No Del Toro in 'Star Trek' sequel?

No Del Toro in 'Star Trek' sequel? Benicio Del Toro reportedly has turned down a role in the sequel to "Star Trek." Talks between Del Toro and the production reportedly fell apart over money issues.
J.J. Abrams has offered Benicio Del Toro the lead bad guy role in his forthcoming 'Star Trek' sequel.
Benicio Del Toro is in line to play a leading character in the 'Star Trek' sequel.
The 44-year-old actor - best known for roles in '21 Grams' and 'Traffic' - is set to play an unknown villainous role in the movie, after director J.J. Abrams offered him the opportunity, Variety reports.
Eric Bana performed the lead baddie in the last movie, Romulan character Nero, but he will not be returning as his character died at the end of the first film.
However, the secrecy surrounding the follow-up is so intense even Del Toro does not know exactly what his role will be.
Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto will all be returning to the film, which has been scripted by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof.
Production on the movie is set to begin in early 2012, and although it officially is due in cinemas in December 2012, it is expected the release date will be pushed back.
Speaking about the movie recently, Zachary - who last month came out as gay - said he was preparing to return to the role of Spock.
He said: "'Star Trek 2' is on the imminent horizon. I go back to Los Angeles after this trip and I start to prep for it. We get going in the beginning of the year, so everybody is gearing up. I haven't read the script yet so it's good, I can't actually tell you anything. I'm not torn or tempted to spill any secrets because I have no idea."

Twilight US premiere: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart get cosy!

It may be a whole day until the Twilight stars grace our soil for the UK premiere of Breaking Dawn Part 1 - but we already have a bad case of Twilight fever. And seeing these pictures of the cast at the US screening of the latest Twilight installment (which includes a cheeky snap of R-Patz and Kristen Stewart getting very cosy on the red carpet) has only made our thirst for the film even stronger!
We can't wait to see the stars in flesh, but for now we'll have to make do with these glossy shots from last night's premiere . Check out the Twilight trio posing for the paps - anyone would think that they've done this before...

Taylor Lautner, who plays the sultry werewolf Jacob in the films, looked suitably sharp in his suit - you could even say it was 'Taylored' for him.

We've come to the conclusion that the Twilight films have one of the hottest casts in cinema history - Kellan Lutz looked every bit the Hollywood hunk at the premiere.

Robert Pattinson certainly seemed to think so! Check out the co-stars getting snug on the red carpet. We can only wonder what he's saying to her - we bet it's something romantic though...
But, it's not just the Twilight hunks who know how to work a smouldering gaze - how smoking hot did Kristen Stewart look?
Robert Pattinson adopted his usual brooding stare on the red carpet. We bet that this pic will make ladies across the globe collectively swoon. All together now...

Nikki Reed beamed her way down the red carpet.

You know you've made it as a Hollywood starlet when you can pull off the 'kiss to the camera' maneuver a la Twilight's Ashley Greene.
